چکیده

In context of climate change, yield potential chickpea is hampered by heat stress. Increasing area rice fallows, shifting in cropping system and global warming, needs to identify the genotypes tolerant high temperature. With this objective an experiment was conducted during winter (rabi) season 2020–21 at seed breeding farm Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 3 replications. Forty two were grown under timely (E I), late II) very planting (heat stress condition-E III). Selection based on BYPP, HI 100 SW will be more effective for constructing plant type suited sown conditions. On basis different indices, genotype JG 2020-27, 2020-32 E I II 24, 2020-1, 2020-27 III recorded higher YI, MP GMP, respectively. Promising lines recognized various indices would utilized improvement programme current changing climatic

GENETIC DIVERGENCE IN CHICKPEA (Cicer arietinum L.)

Genetic diversity of 27 chickpea genotypes was studied through Mahalanobis D and Principal Component analysis. The genotypes under study fall into five clusters. The cluster II contained the highest number of genotypes (11) and Cluster I contained the lowest. Cluster I produced the highest mean value for number of pods per plant. The inter cluster distances were much higher than the intra clust...

Diversity analysis of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) germplasm and its implications for conservation and crop breeding

The exploration of genetically variable accessions is the key source of germplasm conservation and potential breeding material for the future. The more diverse group of cultivars provides an ample opportunity to breeders for releasing new and superior varieties, considering their quality traits for direct commercial utilization. In this study, we assessed the genetic diversity of Cicer arietinu...
